2017 Solar Eclipse
This image is just pure luck. We drove down to Nebraska to reach the path of totality, and woke up to rain just pouring down the windows. As the critical time approached, we were hurtling along back highways looking for a break in the clouds. My wife finally put her foot down and said “We’re stopping, quit hyperventilating already”. Tecumseh is tiny, and has a beautiful town hall; we set up on the lawn. Ten minutes before totality a small break in the overcast appeared, and lasted through the eclipse. I got enough frames to make up this high-dynamic-range composite of the corona…and then the clouds closed again, and thunder rumbled. Incredible! Pentax K-5iis DSLR on a Stellarvue SV70t-IS telescope.
