Antares and Rho Ophiuchi Nebulae
Blue Horsehead Nebula, Rho Ophiuchi Nebula, Antares Nebula, and many more.
The Rho Ophiuchi region, just off the Milky Way, is another target that’s easy to capture, but hard to capture very well. The camera and optics were primitive: A DLSR and a forty-year-old 50mm macro lens. They were, however, riding on a rather exoensive equatorial mount!
Shot at Newport State Park in Door County, one of my favorite dark-sky spots. Thanks to Beth the park naturalist who made it possible. Pentax K-5iis, 50mm macro lens at f/5.6.
